Emergency search and rescue in Donegal's mountains since 1984
We provide emergency search and rescue services in Donegal's mountains, hills, and remote areas, 24/7, 365 days a year.
Our team responds to emergencies involving:
24/7 search and rescue operations in mountainous terrain
Rope rescue and evacuation from difficult terrain
First response medical treatment in remote locations
Safety education and mountain awareness programs
As a volunteer organization, we rely on public support to maintain our life-saving services. Your contribution helps us:
Our team conducting a technical rescue operation in the challenging terrain of Lough Salt.
In case of an emergency in the mountains, dial 999 or 112 and ask for Mountain Rescue. Stay where you are if it's safe to do so, and try to conserve phone battery.
Always check weather forecasts, bring appropriate gear, tell someone your plans, carry a charged phone, and stay within your experience level. Consider taking a basic mountain skills course.
No, we provide our services free of charge. We're a volunteer organization funded by donations and support from the community. However, we welcome donations to help maintain our operations.
We cover all mountainous and remote areas in County Donegal, including popular hiking destinations like Mount Errigal, the Derryveagh Mountains, and Slieve League. We also assist neighboring teams when needed.
